A longtime resident and entrepreneur, Sanders has embedded himself deeply in the community through his unwavering generosity and mentorship.

Mentorship and Coaching: A Lifelong Commitment

Linwood Sanders is a familiar name in local sports. His dedication to coaching youth football and softball has not only shaped the athletic skills of many kids but has also positively influenced their lives. Sanders goes the extra mile, ensuring that players have reliable transportation to practices and games. His support extends beyond just sports; he assists families in need by providing sports equipment, creating a nurturing environment for young athletes.

“Mr. Sanders is fondly remembered for his coaching work here in Benson,” remarks Derrick Barefoot, the Benson Cultural Arts Director, highlighting the uplifting legacy Sanders has built. His commitment to fostering young talent showcases a heartfelt dedication to the community’s future.

A Multifaceted Entrepreneur

Beyond the sports field, Linwood Sanders is also a licensed barber. He has formerly cut hair locally and still owns Ray’s Hair Center in Dunn. His entrepreneurial spirit continues to thrive through Quality Time Towing, a business he has successfully run in the McGee’s Crossroads area for nearly 25 years. Community and Faith: A Holistic Approach

In addition to his professional and personal commitments, Sanders serves as a deacon at Small’s Chapel Church of God in the Meadow community. This role allows him to further engage with his community, ensuring that his values of support and mentorship are shared within his faith circle. Outside of work and church, he enjoys activities like rabbit hunting, which he engages in as a form of relaxation and connection with nature.

Honoring His Legacy

In recognition of his invaluable contributions, a mini-documentary highlighting Linwood Sanders’ impact on Benson will premiere during the upcoming event. This celebration is an opportunity for the community to reflect on the depth of his influence and the many lives he has touched over the years.
