The Annual Gala of the African American Museum of Bucks County
The African American Museum of Bucks County (AAMBC) is set to host its annual gala on December 11th, bringing together the community for a night of celebration and support. The event will take place from 6 to 9 PM at the Parx Casino Racetrack Building, located at 3001 Street Rd, Bensalem, PA. With this year’s theme, “Preserve the Legacy: Complete the Vision,” the gala promises to be an inspiring culmination of efforts to establish a significant landmark in the region.
A Celebration of Cultural Heritage
This annual gala is more than just a fundraising event; it’s a heartfelt celebration of African American history and culture in Bucks County. Attendees will enjoy a sit-down dinner, designed to foster community connections while celebrating the rich narratives that the Museum will preserve. The evening will also feature engaging entertainment, showcasing the talent and creativity that enriches the African American cultural experience.
Fundraising for a Purpose
The primary purpose of this gala is to raise the final funds needed to complete the Museum’s development, which is set to open early next year. Ticket prices are set at $175 per person, and all proceeds will directly support the Museum’s interior renovations. Those interested in attending can purchase tickets through the Museum’s website at aamuseumbucks.org.
Linda Salley, the President and Executive Director of AAMBC, expressed her heartfelt appreciation for the community’s unwavering support: “We are extremely grateful for the ongoing support of individuals, businesses, and the Bucks County Commissioners over the past four years. We are eager to celebrate the near completion of the Museum with our friends and supporters. We are now in the home stretch.”
A Modern Learning Center
Salley emphasizes that while the Museum’s exterior renovations are now complete, the interior transformation is ongoing. The Museum aims to serve as a modern learning center, highlighting the culture and history of African Americans in Bucks County and beyond. This vision aligns with the Museum’s mission to educate, inspire, and celebrate African American contributions to society.
A Musical Tribute to History
One of the highlights of the evening will be a special performance by baritone Keith Spencer, who will present “We Shall Not Be Moved: Songs and Speeches from the Civil Rights Movement.” This musical tribute promises to evoke the powerful emotions and historical significance of the struggle for civil rights, reminding attendees of the resilience and determination that defines the African American experience.
Natalie Kaye, founder and President of On Demand Programs and Events, expressed her excitement: “On Demand is thrilled to provide the extraordinarily talented baritone, Keith Spencer, who will be performing during the gala. His tribute to the Civil Rights Movement will resonate deeply with our audience and enhance the overall experience of the evening.”
